From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,
You are to be commended for helping your child begin each day on a positive note—arriving at school promptly, prepared, and eager to learn. We, the staff and teachers, are enjoying each child and are assuring that they receive the highest level of educational opportunities daily.
As you are aware, South Carolina has passed a law requiring all school volunteers to complete an application before they are allowed to volunteer. These forms are available in the front office. You may also contact the office to request that one be sent home with your child for you. Please know that we value our volunteers and encourage you to follow through by completing the application.
Please take advantage of the PowerSchool Parent Portal that is available to all parents and guardians. This will allow you to have the most recent grades and test data for your child. You may stop by the office any time during the day to receive your user ID and password. Please remember to bring your ID with you.
This school year, our teachers are receiving training and staff development in a variety of strategies and best practices that they are incorporating into the classroom. All teachers are receiving ongoing training in content area writing, sentence and paragraph writing strategies, and co-teaching models. All students are reaping the benefits of these professional development opportunities.
I am very pleased with the amount of feedback we have received from parents regarding our ticket system for positive reinforcement. This school-wide initiative has become successful and students are enjoying trading in their tickets for items in the PBIS school store. Please continue to encourage your child to have good behavior during school and on the bus. We have plans for some exciting activities throughout the year to reward students for good behavior.
With kindest regards,
Tara L. Brice, Principal
